The Best Visual Effects in 'Game of Thrones' History

As of 2014, the average Game of Thrones episode costs about $6 million USD to make and about three times the cost of making the average network TV show. The pilot alone cost around $10 million USD. Along with its memorable cast, exotic film locations and brilliant interweaving plot lines, the HBO series has been consistent with its strong visual effects that have lead to high expectations for the sixth season. io9 has released a short video highlighting the best visual effects in Game of Thrones history (so far) with VFX supervisor Joe Bauer. Bauer describes the vast scope of work the VFX team is responsible for, from constructing vast landscapes and gory battle scenes as digital post-production work from scratch, to creating fire-breathing dragons effects by literally lighting stuntmen on fire with flamethrowers. Check out the video above.
