In the world of method actors, there’s Marlon Brando, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Joe Maggard, a.k.a. Ronald McDonald. At least that’s what Maggard would like us to think, such is his devotion to his role between 1995 and 2007 as the eighth person to play the fast food chain’s mascot. The Guardian has profiled Maggard in retirement, asking him about his former position as Chief Happiness Officer, the separation between performer and performance, and how he still unofficially serves as Ronald McDonald. Watch the video above for the odd interview, and follow Maggard to a carnival in Las Vegas as he reprises the role of his lifetime.
