Corpus Christi isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when thinking about Texas music, but with artists like El Dusty putting the scene on their backs – it might be soon. Dusty himself is a product of the unique Texan city, which is neatly situated in Southern Texas toward the Mexican border. Accordingly, the artist draws influence from a variety of Latino music, most notably Cumbia, which Dusty flips with influences from chopped-and-screwed rap – a Texas staple. At the latest Green Label Live in Houston, we were able to stop Dusty to talk briefly about his influence, personal style, and how Texas is laying the sound for the future. Enjoy the video above.
