A resurgence of the ’70s was strong at Marni’s 2016 Spring/Summer presentation. Most salient were the exaggerated shirt collars, peaking out from under brown three-button blazers and oversized woollen vests, but also incorporated into wine-colored leather jackets. Mustard and royal blue were strongly represented throughout the many looks, in some cases complimented by era-appropriate floral and geometric patterned shirts, as well as by tribal-inspired sandals paired with thick woollen socks. The brand’s trademark color-blocking aesthetic remained prevalent throughout the collection, marking another consistent effort by creative director Consuelo Castiglioni this year.
