Again, Alexander Wang champions effortless cool in his work for Balenciaga, here presenting another instantly-classic range for spring 2016. This time around, we find the Parisian fashion house offering up a somewhat gruff, military-inspired range – yet the key principles of masterful symmetry and tailoring are maintained line-wide. This season, the Balenciaga man is garbed in pieces that borrow from the officer’s uniform, making use of extended trenches and peacoats alongside plenty of collarless button-ups and sharp polo shirts. Elsewhere, slub knits are used to create base layer tank tops and sunken-neck T-shirts. A certain affinity for cargo pocketing grounds this moody collection in the militia aesthetic, as does the color palette, which is dominated by rich olive and black hues.
