Since its inception in 2010, photo-sharing social media platform Instagram has grown exponentially in its short, yet monumental four year existence. Recently announcing that it has reached over 300 million users a month, Instagram has surpassed Twitter‘s mark of 284 million users per month. The burgeoning social media platform was acquired by Facebook in 2012 for $1 billion USD as Instagram continues to experience growth in users, inching closer to Facebook’s leading 1.35 billion monthly active users.
