Nigel Stanford Tests Live Sound's Affect on Matter

In an attempt to show us sound, musician Nigel Stanford has created this beautifully produced video that captures the effect sound has on tangible matter. The knowledge that the vibrations produced by sound can be seen is nothing new — how many of us have been transfixed on our speakers while turning up the bass — but “CYMATICS” takes it to a whole other level. By introducing a range of surfaces from powdered beads to paint, running water, electricity, fire and even Stanford himself, the video captures just how visibly dynamic sound can be represented. Paired with a decent soundtrack, the video is a great example of science-meets-music and is well worth the watch. Check it out above.
