Having already caught a glimpse of INDUSTRY’s two-wheeled submission for Co.Design’s “The Bike Design Project,” we now travel to Seattle, the second of five cities participating in this initiative, for a look at the collaboration between Teague and Sizemore Bicycles. Inspired by the needs of commuting bicyclists within this coastal city, the “Denny” bike sports an electric motor with a removable battery at its front to kick in during those steep Seattle hill-climbs. This is then supplemented by a computer-controlled automatic shifter that intuitively adjusts to the change in ride conditions for a “hassle-free riding experience.” Finally, to combat the chronic Seattle rain, the “Denny” employs a simple device with rubber bristles to break up the water, rather than using a fender.
